Allen, preparing our treat of oysters

Yesterday, our son, Allen and his wife, Cherrie arrived with a box of fresh oysters in the shell which they proceeded to clean and shuck for us to enjoy with drizzles of lemon. Just out of the sea a few days ago, they were meaty and delicious….our first taste of one of our favourite seasonal treats. Oysters have long been a Christmas tradition in Canada as they were in Britain before the oyster beds there became polluted. Our family has continued this tradition by serving oysters on the half shell on Christmas Eve each year. Yesterday, was a preview of that tasty Christmas treat.
