Scottish Food and Lore

On Sunday, I was guest speaker at a lovely luncheon in Cambridge’s McDougall Cottage to launch a year of stories and recipes. After viewing the beautiful little quilts on display right now, we enjoyed a delicious luncheon created by the Manager/Curator, Susan Burke and her staff at the cottage. The menu included Smoked Salmon & Pumpernickel, Haggis Rolls, Cheese & Onion Pasties, Barley Kale Soup, Oatcakes and Cheddar, Medieval Herb & Flower Salad, Steak & Ale or Vegetarian Pie, Raspberry Drambuie Oaty Crumble and Button Shortbread. This should start you thinking about Scottish food and how good it can be. Susan requested family recipes for the day, and I know she would be happy to have visitors come to McDougall Cottage with recipes and family stories in hand. The Cottage is at 89 Grand Avenue and the telephone number is 519-624-8250.
